{mosimage}COLUMBIA – Volunteers are needed to help the Alston Wilkes Society with a recycling program during the annual St. Patrick’s Day celebration March 19 in Five Points, Columbia.

The AWS is a United Methodist Advance Special Ministry and was founded in 1962. It is a non-profit statewide organization that provides offenders, at risk youth, homeless, veterans and their families a way to become productive citizens and to have a positive impact on crime reduction and prevention.

The organization will receive a donation based on the amount of volunteer hours contributed at the March 19 event.

AWS volunteers will relocate recyclables from bins throughout the festival to the main recycling area. The first shift will work from 12–3:30 p.m., and the second shift will work from 3:30–7 p.m. Everyone over the age of 21 is welcome to participate.
