Delegation welcomes all to attend their meetings, email them

By Jessica Brodie

In keeping with what episcopal nominee Dr. Tim McClendon called the spirit of transparency, South Carolina delegation members for this year’s General and Jurisdictional conferences are not only welcoming United Methodists to attend their monthly meetings but also encouraging them to reach out via email.

The meetings are set for March 13, April 10, May 1 and June 18, all at 3 p.m. at the United Methodist Conference Center in Columbia. All are welcome to attend.

Also, McClendon said, they urge anyone with questions to feel free to email them and ask. (See below for email addresses.)

He and others on the delegation are asking for prayer for them as they do God’s work at the quadrennial conferences, as well as prayer for the overall process.

General Conference is the global United Methodist Church’s quadrennial legislative gathering set for May 10-20 in Portland, Oregon, where representatives from all over the world examine, discuss, pray, debate and eventually determine a host of key legislative issues that will become church law for the next four years. Jurisdictional Conference, July 13-15 at Lake Junaluska, North Carolina, is held every four years primarily to elect bishops. Delegates to these conferences were elected at Annual Conference 2015.
