2020 Black Clergy Leadership Retreat rescheduled for Aug. 24-28
MYRTLE BEACH—The 2020 Carolinas Black Clergy Leadership Retreat, “Crossroads: Where Faith and Innovation Meet,” has been rescheduled for Aug. 24-28 at Kingston Plantation.
Registration is open through Aug. 10. All clergy are invited to attend; clergy from the South Carolina, North Carolina and Western North Carolina conferences of The United Methodist Church will participate.
Organizers said the retreat is an opportunity to get away to a quiet place to be renewed, reconnected, refreshed and refocused. It’s a chance to get to know new people with whom you share United Methodist DNA and to be filled as we praise, worship, learn, have some fun and just take some time to relax.
The annual gathering will address such topics as:
- “An Honest Look in the Mirror: Strategies for Vitality Today and Beyond”
- “Congregational Development for the Black Church: Current Realities and Missional Possibilities”
- “Resourcing and Funding Your Vision: Winning Plans and Proposals”
- “The Power of Godly Vision: Faith and Innovation”
- “Strengthening Our Connection and Networking Opportunities”
- “Where Do We Go From Here?”
Retreat leaders include Bishop L. Jonathan Holston, resident bishop of the South Carolina Conference; Bishop Hope Morgan Ward, resident bishop of the North Carolina Conference; Bishop Paul L. Leeland, resident bishop of the Western North Carolina Conference; Dr. Joe Daniels, lead pastor of Emory United Methodist Church in Washington, D.C.; the Rev. Regina Henderson Moore, a United Methodist elder, certified coach and speaker; and the Rev. James Friday, director of congregational development for the South Carolina Conference.
