Midlands Gives to help Methodist organizations, other nonprofits May 4

On May 4, 2021, various United Methodist ministries, schools and other organizations will be participating in the annual Midlands Gives event.

Hosted by Central Carolina Community Foundation, Midlands Gives is an 18-hour online giving challenge the first Tuesday of May that brings the region together as one community, raising money and awareness for local nonprofits in 11 Midlands counties. Since its inception in 2014 the event has raised $12.6 million for local nonprofits.

This year’s Midlands Gives will take place online Tuesday, May 4, from 6 a.m. to 11:59 p.m. Eastern.

Central Carolina Community Foundation has set up an online giving platform at MidlandsGives.org with searchable profiles of participating nonprofits. All donations will be processed through this website, which allows nonprofits and donors to track the giving. During the giving day on May 4, donations are also tracked through the site's leaderboard and prizes are awarded to amplify donations.

Many gifts are amplified by matching funds and prizes.

To see if your United Methodist ministries, schools and other organizations are participating, go to https://www.midlandsgives.org/nonprofits and type in the organization in the search box. Some participating UMC entities or advance special ministries include Claflin University, Columbia College, Killingsworth Home, Aldersgate Special Needs Ministry, Alston Wilkes Society, Christian Assistance Bridge, Epworth Children’s Home, The Cooperative Ministry, and Jubilee Academy.
