Easter lilies bring hope to homebound

This Easter, people unable to leave their homes because of illness or other issues will get some springtime cheer courtesy of an Easter lily delivery project led by the Rock Hill District.

Stacey Newlon, Rock Hill District lay leader, spearheaded the project, which she hopes will deliver both hope and the love of Jesus to recipients, as well as bless those volunteering to help.

“People are hungry for ministry opportunities in the church right now that are safe, and this is just that,” Newlon said.

Newlon and the laity team of District Connectional Ministries reached out to United Methodist churches in the area and have lined up a number of churches and individuals who have donated funds to purchase the Easter lilies.

On March 31, they will begin delivering Easter lilies to shut-ins.

Newlon said it is an excellent ministry opportunity to share the love of Jesus with church members who have been sheltering-in-place or otherwise homebound, as well as with people who, she said, “May be overlooked and need to know they are loved.”

“The laity team of DCM has been praying that each lily recipient will experience the hope of Easter,” Newlon said.
