Advocate Awareness Day May 21, 2017

The 180-year-old South Carolina United Methodist Advocate newspaper will celebrate Advocate Awareness Day May 21, 2017, in United Methodist churches across South Carolina.

Advocate Awareness Day is a chance for churches to understand the importance of the South Carolina United Methodist Advocate’s newspaper ministry and to connect with the Advocate through a subscription. The Advocate has a number of free materials available for churches to celebrate Advocate Awareness Day:

If May 21 does not work for your church, feel free to hold an Advocate Awareness Day any day throughout the year. The idea is to help your church members become aware of this first-rate newspaper and use it as a tool for stronger discipleship and connectionalism.

The Advocate is your source for United Methodist news in South Carolina. At 180 years old, the Advocate has the special distinction of being the oldest continuously published newspaper in Methodism. Its mission is to inform and connect South Carolina United Methodists by independently reporting relevant news, engaging readers, providing a forum for dialogue and sharing the Gospel of Jesus Christ. With 94 awards for journalistic excellence since 2010, today’s monthly Advocate is high-quality and readable, delivering all you need to know about the UMC in this state and helping you become stronger in your Christian walk.

The Advocate has been earning a reputation as one of the best newspapers in the denomination, and its news is frequently on UMC.org, distributed via United Methodist News Service and included in various denomination magazines, such as the Interpreter and Response magazine.
