And Jessica and Matt Brodie won second place for Electronic Newsletter/Publication for The Messenger, an Advocate-Conference partnership.

The latest wins bring the total to 64 awards the Advocate has achieved since 2010.

Advocate Board Chair the Rev. Angela Ford Nelson applauded what she calls these outstanding accomplishments in journalism.

“These awards only reinforce what the Advocate Board of Trustees knows about the quality of the Advocate, our editor, Jessica Brodie, our assistant editor, Allison Trussell, and the virtual team of writers and photographers that they gather each month to create a life-changing instrument of God’s peace!” Nelson said. “As we approach the observance of the inaugural celebration of Advocate Awareness Day on May 17, please join us in getting the word out about the Advocate. We are not only striving to be first place with the South Carolina Press Association, but we also want to be first place for South Carolina UMC news in every home in the state!"
