Beth Westbury named new conference treasurer

The Council on Finance and Administration of the South Carolina Annual Conference has announced the selection of Elizabeth (Beth) Westbury, CPA, CGMA as the new conference treasurer and director of administrative services.

Her position is effective May 1.

Westbury presently serves Columbia College as associate vice president for finance and previously as controller. During the month of April, Westbury and outgoing treasurer, Tony Prestipino, will work concurrently for proper, smooth and full transition. Prestipino will also return from Florida to assist in the presentation and approval of the 2016 Ministry Budget during the Annual Conference session in June in Florence.

Westbury’s final election as treasurer will take place during the Annual Conference session upon nomination by CF&A.

Westbury holds a Bachelor of Science of business administration in accounting and a master’s of taxation from the University of South Carolina. She is a member of Phi Beta Kappa, the Golden Key National Honor Society and Beta Alpha Psi. She previously held the position of controller and director of tax and 401(k) from Presidion Solutions Inc. and also was employed by several other accounting and financial firms all in the Columbia area.

Westbury has been a participant in The Senior Leadership Academy, a cooperative program of The Council of Independent Colleges and Vanderbilt University’s Summer Institute for Higher Education Management. She is a member of Ashland United Methodist Church, Columbia, and its Finance Committee. She is also a dedicated runner.

Selected from among nearly 50 applicants and four final interviewees, CF&A determined that Westbury is “the very best fit and brings an outstanding skill set to this critical position in an ever challenging environment of church management and administrative support needs.”

“She will continue and build upon the solid foundation of leadership, accountability, availability and open communication which have been hallmarks of the tenure of Tony Prestipino,” the release from CF&A said. “CF&A and Bishop Holston are most excited about the leadership and abilities, which Elizabeth Westbury will bring to the South Carolina Annual Conference.”

They are grateful for the interest in this position and pray God’s deepest blessings upon the Annual Conference at this time of transition.
