Hartsville District men to host ‘Rise Up to His Calling’ men’s ministry banquet

Inspired by the conference’s ongoing men’s ministry movement and the upcoming “Rooted: Grow Deep, Live Strong” men’s spiritual weekend in February, the Hartsville District is organizing an appreciation banquet this month.

The banquet, set for 4 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 14, at Lyttleton Street United Methodist Church, Camden, is designed to generate excitement and passion both for men’s ministry in the district, as well as raise awareness about the important skills and learning in store for those who attend the February conference retreat. The conference retreat is set for Feb. 17-19 at Christ UMC, Myrtle Beach.

“This is one of the first districtwide events that the Hartsville District men have had, and we are very excited about the endless possibilities that will be developing for men’s ministry in the Hartsville District as God guides us and we work together to disciple men and enhance the connection of ministry to men,” said Dyron Anderson, Hartsville District UMMen president, noting the banquet will also serve as a kickoff to the statewide men’s ministry spiritual weekend.

The banquet theme is “Rise Up to His Calling: Men Glorifying God,” and Anderson said it will be an evening of celebration and praise in honor and celebration of men’s ministry. The banquet draws from Romans 8:28: “And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are called according to His purpose.”

Dr. Reginald Lee, the Florence and Marion district congregational specialist, will serve as speaker.

Attendees are asked to RSVP by Jan. 3 to 843-332-1631 or [email protected].
