The Rev. Christopher M. Lollis has been appointed as the new benefits officer for the South Carolina Annual Conference, effective July 1.
Appointed by Bishop L. Jonathan Holston, the Conference Board of Pension and Health Benefits recommended Lollis, and the Conference Staff Relations Committee approved.
Lollis, pastor of Trinity United Methodist Church, Darlington, will succeed the Rev. David Anderson, who has served as the conference benefits officer since 2005 and will retire at Annual Conference 2018 in June.
Born in Simpsonville, Lollis is a graduate of Williamson Christian College (now Williamson College) in Franklin, Tennessee, from which he earned a bachelor’s degree in leadership and ministry. Lollis worked more than 10 years for software development firms that provide companies with payroll and human resources solutions.
Lollis was ordained in 2010 following his 2008 graduation from Erskine Theological Seminary with a Master of Divinity degree. Before his appointment to Trinity UMC, Lollis served Augusta Road UMC, Piedmont; First UMC, Clover; the Mathews-Harris-Ebenezer Charge in the Greenwood District; and Mount Lebanon UMC, Shelbyville, in the Tennessee Annual Conference.
In addition to his work in local churches, he has served on the Conference Board of Pension and Health Benefits, on district Connectional Ministries teams and a district Board of Church Location and Building, and as a mentor for Clergy Mentor Groups. He currently serves as vice chair of the Conference Commission on Equitable Compensation.
He is married to Donna Lollis; they have one child.
