Advocate wins three more journalism awards from SCPA

The Advocate has won three more journalism excellence awards this year, these latest from the South Carolina Press Association.

These bring the newspaper’s total to 121 awards for journalism excellence in the last decade from groups such as the SCPA, the United Methodist Association of Communicators and the Religion Communicators Council.

In the Associate & Individual Member Awards division, the Advocate was honored by the SCPA with second place in overall Newspaper Publication.

Advocate Editor Jessica Brodie also won second place for faith reporting for her article, “Saylor Strong” (December 2019 Advocate) and third place in faith reporting for her article, “The Salvation of Mass Incarceration” (March 2020 Advocate).
