ERT to feature new book, music, memories at fall 20th anniversary party
WEST COLUMBIA—South Carolina United Methodist Volunteers in Mission’s Early Response Team celebrates 20 years in 2024.
To commemorate their anniversary, ERT members and other supporters will gather for an ERT 20th anniversary celebration Saturday, Nov. 16, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Mount Hebron United Methodist Church, 3050 Leaphart Road in West Columbia.
“This will be a celebration giving all glory and honor to God, while celebrating his use of us through the Holy Spirit to literally move mountains and calm storms in his holy precious name.”
Attendees will gather at 10 for greetings and fellowship.
Starting at 11 a.m. will be special music from a gospel band and a book signing for the brand new ERT book from the Advocate Press covering the ministry’s work over the past 20 years, plus other book signings of Christian books from the Advocate Press.
“Come prepared to purchase an ERT book and have other team members sign it like we did our annuals in high school,” said Billy Robinson, ERT coordinator.
At noon, Don Beatty will provide a lunch of pulled pork. Attendees are asked to bring a covered dish or dessert to go with it.
After lunch, starting at 1 p.m., will be a program of thanksgiving through ERT videos, speakers and storytelling of special experiences and inspirational moments throughout the years and more activities.
“Please be willing to honor God by telling your God inspired story, so we all can give God the glory,” Robinson said. “Please make every effort to come and celebrate God for what he has done though our wonderful ministry. Please bring your family and friends. Please tell others from other denominations and services so they can celebrate with us.”
Volunteers are needed.
