UMCSC youth events gear up for 2024-2025

For many, the start of a school year means back-to-school shopping, earlier wake-up calls and school buses on the roads in and around towns all over South Carolina.

For South Carolina Ministries With Young People, it means preparing to make an impact on the spiritual journey of young people through its two annual events, Immerse and Revolution.

SCMYP is the youth ministry of the South Carolina Conference of The United Methodist Church.

Immerse and Revolution each have a different focus but with the same ultimate goal: to connect youth from across South Carolina to experience a life-transforming relationship with God.

With its tagline “go deeper in your faith,” Immerse is designed as a discipleship event, offering youth an opportunity not only to experience meaningful, relevant worship, but also (through small groups) to dig deeper into the content and consider how to apply what they are learning to their everyday walk with Jesus. The Immerse Design Team works to create a sense of community among attendees as they spend a weekend at Asbury Hills Camp and Retreat Center in South Carolina’s Upstate, where they worship, build community, learn and of course have some fun along the way.

This year’s Immerse is set for Nov. 15-17, and the theme for Immerse this year is Masterpiece, as young people will be reminded that they are indeed God’s masterpiece and have the opportunity to consider how their lives can be changed by living into that principle.

Revolution, now in its 13th year, is designed to introduce youth to Christ and offers an opportunity for youth to begin a relationship with God, as well as an opportunity to respond to a call to ministry.

Revolution is scheduled for Jan. 24-26, 2025.

While at Revolution, young people, along with their youth group, will experience four high-energy worship opportunities at the Township Auditorium in Columbia with additional opportunities for prayer, community-building within their youth group and some time to relax and meet youth from around our conference during free time on Saturday afternoon.

Worship is at the center of the Revolution experience, and consistently, youth have expressed that they have experienced the power and presence of God through the ministry of Revolution.

Registration for Immerse and sponsoring church registration for Revolution is now open and can be accessed along with other pertinent details at http://scmyp.org.

The design teams for both events look forward to welcoming youth from across the connection to join at either or both events this year. For further questions, email [email protected].
