On the heels of three action-packed days of business and worship, Annual Conference wraps up its work today, Wednesday, with a few more key action items.

This morning, the body will have the chance to vote on nine church closings and 31 charge line changes. Unlike the churches closed Tuesday afternoon over a desire to separate from the denomination, these churches closed because of other reasons, largely financial.

Next, Annual Conference is slated to vote on the $11.7 million budget for 2025. However, thanks to an $800,000 rebate from 2023 separating churches, churches will only be apportioned for $10.9 million. This adjusted budget is $2.3 million less than 2024’s $13.2 million budget.

The day will conclude with a service of Sending Forth and Fixing of the Appointments led by South Carolina Bishop L. Jonathan Holston.

A full list of appointments will be handed out at the end of the session and will also be published in the next edition of the Advocate newspaper.
