Gerald E. Harmon, a family medicine physician from Pawleys Island, was sworn in June 15 as the 176th president of the American Medical Association, the nation’s premier physician organization. Harmon is a member of Duncan Memorial United Methodist Church, Georgetown.

By Jessica Brodie. It’s a wrap—after months of planning, South Carolina’s second virtual Annual Conference ended early and accomplished everything conference leaders hoped.

Annual Conference gathered for a combined service that celebrated a new class of incoming ordained clergy, commissioned a number of new provisional elders and deacons and recognized the long and faithful service of those retiring. By Jessica Brodie.

By Allison Trussell. The South Carolina Annual Conference remembered two churches during the final business session June 7. Zion United Methodist Church, Walhalla, and Wilkes Chapel UMC, Hartsville District, were both closed during the past year.

Shandon United Methodist Church has partnered with Homeless No More to assist in championing the needs of Midlands homeless families through providing all the bedding needs for their new units.

On June 6-7, 2021, nearly 2,000 lay and clergy members of Annual Conference will gather online for two days of fellowship, worship, business and more.

To date, the Walterboro District has raised more than $20,000 to roof roughly four churches in the Congo, and they’ve established a new project called the “Raise the Roof Campaign” in the hope other churches and people in the South Carolina Conference of the UMC will help.
