Bishop Holston, others gather for dedication of Burdine Lodge Restoration Project

A large crowd gathered at the Hagood Mill historical site Oct. 31 for the long-awaited groundbreaking for the restoration of the 18th-century Burdine Lodge. Led by Bishop Jonathan Holston, resident bishop of the South Carolina United Methodist Conference, and Dr. Roger Gramling, chair of the United Methodist Foundation and secretary-treasurer of the South Carolina Methodist Historical Society, Methodist leaders from across the state gathered to participate in this event.

The Welcoming Table inclusion dinner features testimonies, worship, love

South Carolina United Methodist Volunteers In Mission’s Early Response Team responded to Spartanburg Oct. 24 in the aftermath of a tornado that had devastated several neighborhoods the day before—including blocking access to homes with large debris and toppling trees onto and into several homes.

Hulapalooza! Bishop Holston challenges UMC to get moving

Armed with a hula hoop and a commitment to fitness, South Carolina’s bishop is calling on United Methodists across the nation to join him in the denomination’s Abundant Health Initiative. To kick off Hulapalooza, Holston and the other South Carolina United Methodist leaders donned hoops and showed off their skills in a video. Now, they are encouraging United Methodist churches and individuals to join them and make their own hula-hooping (or other fitness) video, then mark it with the hashtag #getmovingumcsc and post it on social media.

Side by side, couple in 80s crafts quilts for children in need

By Jessica Brodie. One elderly United Methodist couple is using their golden years to give back and do rather than sit back and receive. Ken and Joanne Lehman, longtime members of Ebenezer UMC, are in their 80s and are experiencing health difficulties. But over the past 15 years, they have pushed those cares aside and made nearly 1,600 quilts for children in need at Greenville’s A Child’s Haven.
